From bow to stern, from the air to the water—we’re implementing concrete measures in the areas of climate protection, waste management, and water conservation. To this end, we’ve set measurable goals that we’re working to achieve together with the crew onboard and our employees on land. Here’s what we aim to accomplish:
We all know that generating energy from fossil fuel sources also releases CO2 – and that this drives global warming over the long term. This is why minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants in our maritime operations is a top priority at TUI Cruises.
We believe that no waste is the best waste. Nevertheless, on a cruise with many passengers onboard we cannot completely prevent it. That’s why we follow the “reduce, reuse, recycle” principle.
The past few years in particular have made it clear worldwide just how valuable water is as a resource. That is why we produce about 90% of our fresh water directly from sea water ourselves and treat our wastewater before it leaves the ship. In addition, we make a conscious effort to use water sparingly on board.

Our Mein Schiff® Fleet – Young, and Equipped with Modern Environmental Technology
Our Mein Schiff® fleet is young—nine ships have been commissioned since 2014. This has allowed us to incorporate the latest environmental technologies—such as future-proof propulsion systems, exhaust gas treatment systems, energy-efficient technologies, and shore power connections—into every new ship from the very beginning.
