Barrier-free travelling

We would like to offer all guests with a physical impairment a wonderful journey on board with us. That's why we've put together all the information you need for your time on the Mein Schiff® fleet.

Important for your travel booking: Our questionnaire for guests with physical disabilities

As soon as you have booked your trip with us, we will be happy to work with you to prepare for your time on board the Mein Schiff® fleet. This also includes the option of offering you a barrier-free cabin, subject to availability.

If you are travelling with your own wheelchair or scooter, please complete the questionnaire and return it in full to spezialservice@tuicruises.com.

Important note: The registration of the wheelchair/scooter/special medical requirements and the registration of special services (e.g. boarding aids at the airport) must be made directly with the airline. You will find more information here once the flight information has been announced.

Barrier-free cabins

Kreuzfahrtschiff-Kabine mit Rollstuhlfahrerin, Meerblick, modernes Design.

All ships in the Mein Schiff® fleet are equipped with barrier-free cabins that are specially designed to meet mobility needs: with more space, wider doors, grab handles, emergency telephones and a location close to the lift. These cabins can only be booked by guests who are permanently dependent on a wheelchair. Please note that the doors cannot be opened electrically.

Standard cabins can only be booked if a foldable wheelchair is used and you are not dependent on it at all times.

Please note that the cabin signage is not available in Braille and that we cannot offer telephones with large buttons.

Medical care

Our Mein Schiff® fleet has a Hospital with German-speaking staff on every ship. Medical devices can only be taken along after prior notification. A ship's power supply is not the same as a household power supply on land. Consistent quality of the mains power cannot be guaranteed on board. Please contact us in advance if you have any questions about individual illness or care measures.

Barrier-free life on board and safety on board

Almost all public areas on board - including restaurants, theatres, toilets and outdoor areas - are barrier-free.

Electric wheelchairs and scooters are permitted on board by prior arrangement and may only be stored in their own cabin for safety reasons. Please note that electric vehicles with liquid batteries are unfortunately not permitted.

Wheelchairs and walking frames are available for hire on board for a fee, but cannot be reserved in advance.

For organisational and liability reasons, our crew is unfortunately unable to provide personal assistance - we thank you for your understanding.

Shore leave and excursions

Our shore excursions make every holiday a special experience. We want all guests to be able to enjoy the shore excursions offered by TUI Cruises. In some cases, however, there are technical limits for local tour operators.

Arrival and departure

For guests who are dependent on a wheelchair, have booked their flight via TUI Cruises and are unable to board a transfer bus despite assistance, a barrier-free transfer to the ship or airport is included. The need for a separate transfer is requested and organised at the time of booking using a questionnaire.
