Certified Sustainability Standards for Our Shore Excursions

We cruise to the most diverse locations on the planet, from Svalbard to South Africa, from Hong Kong to Canada. In selecting our shore excursions, we make it a point to prioritize environmental and social criteria. For this reason, we follow the independent guidelines of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and give preference to tour operator that hold a GSTC-recognized sustainability certification.

The Council that defines international tourism standards

GSTC stands for “Global Sustainable Tourism Council”. It is an independent, nonprofit organization that has established global criteria for more future-proof tourism. To promote these standards, we specifically highlight tours from local operators that hold a GSTC-recognized sustainability certification.

The criteria covered by these independent certifications include:

  • social and economic benefits for the local population
  • systematic and long-term destination management
  • the preservation and promotion of local cultural heritage
  • the continuous reduction of environmental impacts
