Sustainable Coffee: Mein Schiff® and Fair Caps

Coffee of the highest organic quality
The coffee comes from Brazil, Peru, and Uganda and is certified organic. What does that mean? No pesticides or herbicides are used during cultivation – chemicals that mainly kill insects and weeds. This protects biodiversity, the soil, and the lives of local communities.

Fair conditions for people and the rainforest
Fair Caps is certified according to Rainforest Alliance standards. This ensures, for example, that the tree population in coffee-growing areas is protected. It also guarantees fair wages for farm workers, who must be at least 16 years old.

Flavor through natural processing
Natural processing adds to the aroma. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are dried in the sun to gently extract the beans – the core of the cherry. This enhances the taste and uses less energy.

Compostable coffee capsules
Fair Caps capsules contain no aluminum or plastic. Instead, they are made from cellulose and a plant-oil-based material. Currently, this belongs to the so-called first generation, meaning it could also be used as food. However, Fair Caps is already working on using second-generation oils (such as recycled cooking oil) to help reduce waste.
What makes Fair Caps special:
- Gentle drum roasting for the best aroma
- Organic certification without pesticides or herbicides
- Rainforest Alliance certification: tree protection in growing areas, fair wages, minimum age of 16
- Capsules made from 100% natural raw materials
