Sustainable shore excursions

We cruise to the most diverse locations on the planet, from Svalbard to South Africa, from Hong Kong to Canada. Upholding sustainability standards for shore excursions is our permanent responsibility – towards nature, the environment and our destinations´ inhabitants. To achieve this we adhere to the independent guidelines of the GSTC.

The Council that defines international tourism standards

GSTC stands for “Global Sustainable Tourism Council”. Supporting this body is a not-for-profit organization that has established international guidelines for sustainable tourism. We make sure that the operators whose excursions we select hold a sustainability certificate recognized by the GSTC.

The GSTC standard that these sustainability certifications must cover represents:

  • Greater societal and economic benefits for the local population
  • Sustainable tourism planning
  • Promoting cultural heritage
  • Minimization of any negative environmental impacts.

How to recognize sustainable shore excursions

Under the category header "Green & Fair" you will find the shore excursions carried out by GSTC-certified operators. Excursions organized directly by TUI Cruises, such as bike and e-scooter tours, are also low-emissions and therefore environmentally friendly.
