As soon as you enter the port, Ferrol welcomes you with the majestic castles of San Felipe and La Palma. The port itself is one of the most important shipbuilding centres in Spain and is considered an architectural highlight. However, the number one excursion destination is Santiago de Compostela in the south-west. Every year, more than 250,000 pilgrims make the journey to visit the cathedral with the tomb of St James.
