Triest
Benvenuto – A warm welcome to Trieste The extraordinary port city on the upper Adriatic coast just oozes history and taste. The historic city belonged to Austria and Yugoslavia, among others, and has only been Italian again since 1954. You will find Romanesque, Baroque and Serbian Orthodox churches in the old town centre. Let yourself drift through the variety of architecture, the many alleyways of the old town and the pretty squares, and enjoy the Mediterranean flair of the city. The city also boasts the Grand Canal, close to which is Italy’s best clothing market. Trieste has plenty of culinary delights to offer: the best coffee, everything that seafood cuisine has to offer and, of course, good wine from Veneto and Friuli. Enjoy it!
