San Sebastián (La Gomera)

A special feature of this beautiful island is its language: On La Gomera, the globally unique “El Silbo” is spoken, a whistling language that once helped the Gomeros to communicate over long distances. Simply stroll through the alleyways of San Sebastián, visit the beautiful marina and especially the customs house: This is where Christopher Columbus is said to have filled up his water supplies for his voyage overseas in 1492. Perhaps he also baptised America with this water.
