There’s an Arabian fragrance in the air in the Muscat district of Matrah. Let yourself drift through the lively alleyways of the souk, haggle for the finest cloth, spices or gold jewellery. The city stretches for 50 kilometres along the coast and is also worth exploring from the water. Pure white settlements between rugged cliffs, magnificent mosques and palaces, the azure blue sea and sandy beaches – it’s easy to get carried away here.
