Let yourself be enchanted by the slightly ramshackle charm of Portugal’s capital. Lisbon, picturesquely situated at the mouth\f1 of the River Tagus, invites you to take a guided tour of its numerous sights. You will see some of them as soon as you enter the port. For example, the Monument of the Discoveries or the city’s most famous landmark, the Belém Tower, in the historic district of the same name. Lisbon’s old town is wonderful. Not only is it winding, but you also have to be fairly good on your feet to get from the lower town to the upper town – or you can opt for a ride on the historic “Elevador de Santa Justa”. A ride on the tram is also relaxing: You do not need to go on the strenuous walks and you can still experience Lisbon up close.
